baseball by magritte: may 20th

baseball_magritte I’ve been thinking about baseball a lot lately. Actually, I’ve been watching a lot of baseball lately: Little League baseball to be exact. With two sons on two different baseball teams, it means a good deal of time spent on the sidelines cheering them on. Being on the sidelines can feel like a lot of things as a parent – proud, happy, sociable; sometimes beleaguered, cold, wet, and literally, sidelined. Baseball takes over the month of May with its relentless schedule of practices, games, and laundry. But this forced sideline time sometimes brings with it a little measure of peace too – looking out over the field, as the spring sun gets lower in the sky, you sometimes feel like there’s no place you’d rather be – watching, along with the other parents, your son play a game with his friends.

worm in dirt : may 13th

It is spring by Molly Fedarko

Spring has sprung. The worm has turned. Go outside and get dirty!

This illustration was originally designed for a composting flash card project for a school. If you’re a lover of worms and dirt (the real thing, not the gummy kind in ice cream) and you’d like this as a card, as stationery or an invitation, please feel free to contact me. Special orders are always welcome at no extra charge.
